Visit the Historic Houses of Fairmount Park during December for a month of decorations and four days of entertainment called A Very Philly Christmas. “Christmas in Fairmount Park” celebrates its 47th year of delighting visitors with decked halls at five of the park’s treasured historic houses: Cedar Grove, Laurel Hill Mansion, Lemon Hill Mansion, Historic Strawberry Mansion, and Woodford Mansion. Expanding on this tradition, Fairmount Park Conservancy and its partners will present “A Very Philly Christmas” – four special days showcasing what makes Philadelphia a very special place: music, food, neighbors, and families:
- •Sounds of the Season: featuring top local musicians, 12/1
- •Family Day at Lemon Hill: including picture-perfect visits with Santa and a cheese sculpture of the Philadelphia Flyers’ Gritty mascot providing kid-friendly activities, 12/2
- •Neighbors’ Day: showcasing community talent, 12/8
- •Flavors of the Season: sharing culinary delights, 12/9
New this year: The Ice Bar at Lemon Hill Mansion! For six days only starting November 30th, visitors will enjoy ice art from Ice Sculpture Philly, including a bar carved from ice and an ice lemon tree with real lemons, and exterior lighting design from Drew Billiau, who has worked with Ballet X and Opera Philadelphia. Beverages will be available from Original XIII Ciderworks and St. Benjamin Brewing Company, with a rotating line-up of food trucks, cozy fire pits, and nightly DJ entertainment adding to the experience.
- •Friday, 11/30, 5-9pm; Saturday 12/1 and Sunday 12/2, 12-9pm
- •Friday, 12/7, 5-9pm; Saturday 12/8 and Sunday 12/9, 12-9pm
The Historic Houses of Fairmount Park are some of the best-preserved examples of 18th and 19th century early American architecture, all located in one of the country’s most beautiful urban parks. Promotion and programming for the historic houses are supported through a partnership between Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, Fairmount Park Conservancy, and various stewardship groups. Proceeds from the events support the ongoing maintenance and promotion of these treasures.
